Starbuck Hall Meeting
Oct. 17, 2011

Present: Carol, Jen, Ron, Diane, Val, Nancy, Gerry and Janis

Regrets: Dan

Minutes: were read. One error- “now socials may stay open until 3 a.m.” should have
been “now socials may stay open until 2 a.m.”
Motion: to adopt the minutes as corrected Diane/Ron. Carried

Correspondence: none

Financial Report:
see Appendix l, ll, lll

OLD BUSINESS
Fowl Supper
Some people were left off the list. Their names should be noted for next year.
The Tots and Mum’s made 130 turkey pies and sold them all.
Val took the left over salad and pies to Siloam Mission. We served about 500 people.
There was some discussion about not having tickets and just let people flow through
the sittings but tickets give an indication of how many were served. Tickets also make
people accountable to attend. Next year we MUST get the kitchen staff in earlier. We
also need more runners and a “dishwashing” crew to come in at 6:00 p.m.

Vacuum Cleaner
Dan purchased a second one for $150.

Hangers
Diane brought in a variety of sample coat hangers for the committee to choose and they
decided the larger hanger was the best. Diane will purchase 400 (only sold in 100’s)
this week. Motion: Diane will purchase hangers from W R Display and Packing for
approximately $500.

Safety Light – front entrance
Gerry will put up a motion light.

Hardwood Floor
Carol has asked Corner to Corner from Winkler for a quote to polish the tile floor and an
estimate to refinish the hardwood floor. Carol would also like to get another quote from
the company doing Rachel Nadeau’s floors.

Contract Agreement
Val got the proper paper and will run off the contracts.

NEW BUSINESS
Piano
The old piano is being given to Chris and Tanya Schrof. The new piano needs to be
tuned again and Val will look into contacting Jay Taylor.

Air Command Band
The Air Command Band has contacted Carol about a return visit and referred him to
Diane. The Band this year will have Pipes and Drums added to the Brass instruments.
We should try for a Monday night.
Advertising – Jen
Tickets – Nancy
Food – Janis and Val
Co-op Sign – Diane

Electronic Sign
There was some discussion about having an electronic sign to advertise the Hall’s
events and the Community Places Grant next year may cover this. Maggie was looking
up the cost. Perhaps it could encompass the rink’s activities, too.

Next Meeting: Monday Nov. 14th, 2011 at 7 pm

Adjournment at 8:15 pm by Jen.
