Starbuck Hall Meeting
Sept 12, 2011
Present: Carol, Jen, Ron, Diane, Val, and Dan
Absent: Nancy, Janis
Minutes: were read and there were no errors or omissions.
Motion: to adopt the minut.s Diane/Dan. Carried
Correspondence:

a card from the Schrof family with a $150 donation in honour of Aggie
Schrof and family.
Letter from MLCC saying that “due to a recent amendment to commission
policy, the hours of operation that may be authorized for Occasional Permits
dated on or after July 1, 2011 has been extended until 2:00 a.m. In the past,
liquor service at occasional permit functions was required to cease at 1:00
a.m. With recent change, permittees may now serve liquor until 2:00 a.m.
and all liquor must be cleared by 3:00 a.m.
now socials can stay open until 2 a.m. See letter on file.

OLD BUSINESS
Hangers
Diane is looking into it and will pick them up
Safety Light – front entrance
Dan will look into it.
Hall Agreement
Must be amended as now Socials can be open unit 2 a.m. Email to all and Val will run
off the final Agreement on Linen look paper.
Grant Project
The project will start this fall to change the wiring in the south part of the hall. Headingley
Electric has given us an updated quote since the original quote was last year. Jen has to
fill out more paper work and then meet with Community Places Grant coordinator Giselle
Timmerman to formally complete the grant work. Deadline for the project to end is Fall
Sept. 2013.
Mums and Tots
They gave a donation of $80 to the Hall.
Hardwood Floor
Carol will call Benny Morrisette to see if he can redo it.
Fireplace
Bob Ammeter fixed the loose bricks on the fireplace for $150.
School
The school gave us the following:
Christmas Concert $300
Early Year’s Concert $150
Graduation for Grade 7 & 8 $150
Still outstanding is payment for the Hockey Academy BBQ and Grade 8 Farewell.
NEW BUSINESS
Caretaker’s Job
Gerry Rathert has applied. The position is $15 per hour.
Motion: for Jen to phone Gerry and offer him the position. Ron/Val. Carried.
Floor Mops
Jen will contact Quintons about cleaning the large floor mops.
Low Pressure Sewer System
The Municipality will be inspecting the Hall’s sewer system to see if complies with the
changes. See letter on file.
Vacuum Cleaner
The Hall needs a new vacuum cleaner so Dan will look into getting a second hand one
up to $250.
Fowl Supper
Update by Maggie. Half of the food and positions have been filled. Val will do some
phoning and then pass the list back to Maggie and then she can get someone else to
phone.
Malcolm’s Farewell
Ron Vert wants the Hall for free. After discussion it was decided that the rental was $250
plus GST. Carol will phone Ron and say that perhaps a silver bowl could be put out to off
set the Hall rental fee.
Contract Adjustment
A line needs to be added to state the “Pyrotechnics” are not allowed in the Hall as they
set off the fire alarm. Rentees are responsible for the charge from the Fire Department.
